VETERAN SCRAPBOOK
I am attaching 3 photos that you can feel free to use if you would like. The first is my
Dad, George S. Macon that is a studio portrait that I believe was taken during or just after
basic. Another is of him with his parents George C. and Gladys Macon that I believe was taken
after basic training before he left for Europe, and the third was taken of him in Europe. He
is standing in front of a truck that he was driving when a German hand grenade was thrown at
it. He said that he heard it coming and dove in a fox hole head first and that by the time that
he had gotten turned around to look, that the hood was floating back down.
